Witanko. biggrin.gif The client is very cute and it is fast and ergonomic. There must be an option to switch at least to English so more people are able to use it. I love it but sometimes it is a bit complicated, and under non-polish Windows all the literki kreskowane show disrupted.
Konrado
Yes, polish isn't one of the most easiest laguages on the world. I thing it could be done. I don't know, how core describe text on Konnekt. Maybe in next version (0.7) we'll look option to switch to more international language or something add new laguages. What do you thing about translate konnekt? smile.gif

Sorry for my english, it isn't perfect, i know blush.gif .
Jayrome
I think I could do it. It is definitely not easy biggrin.gif as all the plugins will have to be translated too. But it is very possible if done with patience. In fact, I am natively Russian, so could do a Russian translation as well. The only thing is that I might need help with some resource strings as my Polish is a bit far from being excellent. smile.gif Consulting with someone z Polski will help getting it right.
Konrado
So we need someone who know Polish, English and Russian languages smile.gif
LooL
I know Polish, and a little of English and my mum know good Russian language biggrin.gif
lets do it biggrin.gif
GuZiK
Lets do it, lets do it;P but now we dont have capabilities tongue.gif Someone wrote it could be resting at xml:>
Who knows, 0.7 is closer tongue.gif

Those 'literki kreskowane' are called diacritics... and English language is easy, but only to some degree. Most people terminate their studies in English at a certain point and they think they know English well, but the truth is that the proficiency level is up above it. When one is grabbing some hints of what the proficiency is, it is not so easy a language as it might have seemed to be before ; )

Some time ago I've offered my help in translating parts of the program, but there are a few arguments against such a practice:
- the whole translation should be done by one translator, in other case we will have (I am almost certain) a few names for the same thing/feature
- foreigners use MSN, and believe me or not, no one would like to use the G-G protocol... maybe if Konnekt had its own protocol... or used the one of MSN...
Konrado
On Jabber we have MSN. wink.gif
Sija
we're aware of the problem, but for now the main goal is to release v0.7. i18n is gonna be the next big feature in future releases. we could speed up the development if we had some more codin' power, but for now we have only limited resources.
Bandit
Yhh Translating for russia imo bad idea!! First better make a eng-sub-forum to see how many ppl need it :-)
Keleos
Bandit - first things first - Russia is spelled with capital letter...
Secondly, translating for Russia? wtf R U talkin' about?

To your information - in Russia, national language in Russian... not English x D
So you translate it for English-speaking cultures/societies, no matter whether it is in Russia, Pakistan, Nigeria or Timbaktu.

And a word about Russians - they're the best coders/hackers on the world... I see what they can do with mobile phones... I use programs and patches created by Russian coders... they're really smart... and just to say. if you had an English version of Konnekt, with many protocols supported, there is a little (yet so big) chance that foreign coders would be interested in developing the project and inventing new methods of improving it.

I agree. I think it will make it useable for any country, not only for the USA, or for Russia. There are lots of people in many countries who use English programs though they are not natively English, and Russia is only an example here, not more.

To reply to Keleos, I'd say that, having lived in the US for one year, and I confirm that there are people who have learned basics of English and suppose they know it well, while it it takes much more skill to do things besides using a single program on their computer. smile.gif

2 Kornado: At least a person who knows only Polish and English. smile.gif Translating to Russian would be no problem if I knew the English variant. But, I'm not so desperate to have a Russian translation, so think I'll just watch the discussion on adding an English variant and wait for a chance to offer my help. smile.gif

One more little question: at the current circumstances, is it possible for me to get the diacritics shown correctly? rolleyes.gif

Thanks.
Konrado
Jayrome: I talk about russia couse if someone know this language could better communicate, only this smile.gif

You said that we shouldn't traslate it into English for Russians... ('translaftng FOR Russia - bad idea', 'first make eng-sub-forum')... I do not know whether you wanted to say it or had something else in mind, but you've said so ; d

If I misunderstood you - sorry for that ; )

What I wanted to say is that we're certainly not going to translate Konnekt into Russian, but for Russia (into English) - why not? ; )

IMHO, developing Konnekt into an international Jabber client would be the best idea, and only right, since this is really the most popular protocol, not MSN:) When it's popular enough people may write an MSN plugin, as well as hundrets of others(and Konnekt will beat Miranda some day:D)

It would need fixing the jabber plugin and concentrating on it as the main feature. We all know it's far from perfect and need's to be taken care of.

Translation itself is not a problem, but it requires re-writing Konnekt's core AFAIK(so only possible in THE MYSTIC 0,7;). There were a few discussions here on this topic, one even started by me, and the clue is it's not possible until 0,7 comes along.
